Transcription Companies that
Hire Independent Contractors

SpeakWriteThis is a great company! Their testing is a little difficult (9 test jobs to type that you get two shots at getting right based on their pretty detailed instruction manual. But once they hire you, they offer direct deposit every two weeks as well as creating your own schedule.

UbiqusAnother great company! Of course I will say that for everyone of them that i work with simply because they freed me from office employment. This company is based out of New York and as of this writing they pay a little more per word than SpeakWrite. They pay every two weeks via check.

EscriptionistThis is the other company i am currently working with. This company is based out of California, so me being in the Midwest, I have an additional three hours to turn in a job, which is nice. Their pay is very competitive and they pay weekly via PayPal. The only thing I don't like is you pay PayPal a fee for processing the invoice. It's not a lot but you don't have a choice.

Mountain West ProcessingI was hired by this company and worked for them a short time. However, I found that I was just too busy with the other three plus my two accountants. This company seemed fine. The pay seemed a little low for the type of transcription (looking up lots of spellings of companies, etc.) and the billing procedure was not very IC (independent contractor) friendly. You had to wait about a month to get your pay from the previous month. Anyway, it certainly can't hurt to give them a try!

Below are other online transcription companies that hire ICs; however, I cannot comment on them because I have not worked with them yet.

WordzXpressedThis company hires both medical and nonmedical, but only within the United States. On this link to the right is an area to email them your resume.

Express Document ServiceIt looks like this company focuses on legal and medical, but it says they'll type anything. I don't see on here where you apply for employment. I guess you would just need to contact them via email. (They have a Beverly Hills office, cool!)

Cambridge TranscriptionLocated out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Looks like they do all kinds of transcription except medical. Nice professional website. (I just may have to check them out myself! )

MxSecureMedical transcription company

ANP TranscriptionLooks like the company does all types of transcription. Based out of New York.

Those are just a few to get you started on your search.
